Invisi-Tag: Optimizing Scan Performance with Line of Sight

Unlock the full potential of InvisiTag by understanding Line of Sight (LOS) scanning!

This blog explains how LOS impacts your RFID scanner's ability to read tags and provides best practices for optimal tag placement.

Understanding Line of Sight:

An RFID scanner emits radio waves that need to directly reach the tag's antenna for successful reading. This is known as Line of Sight (LOS).

Maximizing Scan Distance:

  • Perpendicular placement: When the tag's antenna is facing the scanner directly (perpendicular), the read range is at its maximum (25 feet in this example).
  • Parallel placement: If the scanner is parallel to the tag (antenna facing the side), the read range can decrease significantly (5 feet in this example).

Best Practices for Tag Placement:

  • Position the tag on a flat, non-metallic surface.
  • Orient the tag's antenna to face the scanner directly during scanning.
  • Avoid placing the tag near metal objects or liquids, which can interfere with the signal.
  • If unsure, test the scan range from different angles and positions.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure accurate and efficient reading of your Invisi-Tag equipment, enabling you to fully leverage the system's benefits.
